JOB PURPOSE
Summary:
To perform para-professional office and engineering type work.
Depending upon level and assignment, work includes drafting, project design, calculations, layouts, quality control, computer aided technology (CAD) applications and related duties as required.

Education and
Experience:
o Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
o Education:
Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade supplemented by the equivalent to completion of an associate degree (60 semester units) in engineering and mathematics from an accredited college or university or higher.
Emphasis in Engineering related studies preferred.
o
Experience:
Three years of para-professional drafting / design, office, and engineering work.
An associate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.
o Experience in SolidWorks CAD Software Knowledge of:
o Principles and practices of engineering or resources field.
o Terminology, methods, and practices related to engineering or resources fields.
o Computer-Aided drafting and techniques.
o Computers and computer software.
o Organization and time management skills.
o Drafting techniques and engineering terminology.
o Technical report writing.
o Methods and techniques of engineering, manual and CAD drafting, and estimating.
Ability to:
o Organize and maintain office and files (digitally) per standard company procedures.
o Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
o Ability to meet deadlines.
o Analyze and interpret data.
o Interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
o Work effectively with other employees and the public.
o Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
o Operate a computer and applicable software programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, and SolidWorks).
o Read figures quickly and accurately, use a calculator, and make arithmetical calculations.
o Operate measuring tools including tape measures and calipers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform basic engineering assignments.
Revise, add, modify, and create detailed component and assembly drawings.
Performs miscellaneous tasks as required including assembly procedures, instruction documents, and sample procurement.
Assist staff and respond to requests for information.
Ensures that all drawings and designs are consistent with accepted methods and standards.
Collect, summarize, and analyze data and statistics for product development.
Create spreadsheets and databases and basic reports.
Participate in the development and implementation of procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Gather data and other information from partnering companies.
Assists to establish project parameters and helps set procedures.
Understand and interpret customer information to determine general requirements and needs for specific projects.
Solve Engineering design problems.
Performs QC checks on various project types.
Reviews Construction / Zoning and engineering design drawings and analyzes scope of work for preparing proposals to customers.
Creates new and revised construction drawings for engineering approval & fabrication.
Prepares completed layouts for final product review from customer supplied requests.
Ensures all dimensional values and tolerances are consistent throughout drawing sets.
Coordinate designs with associated design stake holders.
Train others in the use of computer applications at the level of the workers knowledge and familiarity under close supervision.
Analyze and model mechanical components for stresses and Assist in creating plan check response form when requested.
Deliver an effective technical presentation.
Develop new approaches to project implementation to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Workers at all levels are expected to look for and to make improvements in the way they carry out their work assignments under general supervision.
Prepare as-built drawings under general supervision.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Report to work at the scheduled time on a regular basis, Monday through Friday.

Assignments are given with explicit instructions and are routine such that few deviations from established practices are made without checking with the supervisor.
CAD Design II:
Assignments are given with less specific instructions.
Judgement is necessary in selecting appropriate established guidelines to follow.
Significant deviations from well-defined practices require prior approval from the supervisor.
May exercise technical supervision in which well-established guidelines or procedures (e.
g.
, methods, materials, and formats) are specified to others in work assignments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Typically sits for extended periods at a desk and in front of a computer.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift (up to 20 lbs.
) for short periods of time.
